Why Some Call Me "Miss Katie"There is a beautiful production of "The Nutcracker" here in St. Louis where you can enjoy a night out at the ballet as well as help support a wonderful studio, give young dancers an audience, and help donate to a local organization called "Friends of Kids With Cancer."
There is so much to talk about in this featured blog post; I'm not sure where to begin. As some of you know, not only am I a photographer, but I am also a dance teacher. I teach at a studio called Dance Experience Performing Arts in O'Fallon, MO. I teach ballet & pointe, and direct and choreograph The Nutcracker each December. I can't begin to explain how proud I am of each and every one of my dancers and cast & crew members! They are all hard working, they are beautiful inside & out, they are talented beyond their years, and they always go above and beyond for each other and the production. "We Dance for Our Friends!" The studio's owner, Kristin Fakhrzad, is one of the greatest people I have had the pleasure of meeting. She cares immensely for her dance families, her dancers, her community, and provides opportunities I could only have dreamed of getting when I was a young dancer. As producer of The Nutcracker, she made sure there was a purpose for our dancers - that would reach beyond inspiration & performing art patrons - that could do more for our community. So, every year, a portion from each ticket purchased is donated to a local St. Louis Charity, Friends of Kids with Cancer. In addition, tickets are given to them for St. Louis families who would like to attend the ballet. It is truly one of the most meaningful & magical shows I have ever been a part of. I hope as you make your holiday plans this year that you include us on your event schedule and come and see Dance Experience's beautiful production. I, certainly, would love to see you all there with your friends and family! XOXO, Katie

© Katie Strzelec Photography, LLC Promotional Photography This year, I had a dream come true and was able to do promotional photography for our production. Featured in these promos is the Sugar Plum Fairy, portrayed by Lauren Potts, and Clara, portrayed by Olivia Barnard. Both students are Juniors in High School and are part of our Youth Dance Company as Senior Company Members. We had a great in-studio session, and I was able to quickly turn around some beautiful graphic design to promote our show. I am over the moon with how our photos turned out! People keep asking us if these are really our dancers... YES! They really and truly are! #ProudTeacher
